Recommended Challenge Steps

  1. Check out our PROBLEM STARTERS and select and Challenge topic

  2. REGISTER YOUR TEAM for the KATU Innovation Challenge (by April 12th)

  3. Review the OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

  4. Review the SUBMISSION FORM to see what you will be submitting and the JUDGING CRITERIA to see how you will be evaluated. Download Judging Criteria here.

  5. Watch our innovation process instructional videos and come to our coaching sessions to get some extra support in the steps of the innovation process

  6. Download a copy of the CHALLENGE WORKBOOK to use (if it is helpful) to develop your final submission responses before submitting

  7. When you're ready, fill out a FINAL SUBMISSION FORM with your team (copy and paste from your workbook if you used one) - Submissions are due by 12pm on April 16th.

  8. Congrats, you did it! We will notify all participating teams of finalists selection on April 23rd

  9. Finalists will work with our Construct Coach to prepare final pitches for Pitchfest competition on May 6th

  10. Winners will be announced and showcased in Oregon STEM week and KATU news special on May 14th!

March 31: 2nd coaching call - Topics: Defining your problem, empathy research & synthesis (repeat)

April 7: 3rd coaching call - Topics: Brainstorming & prototyping

April 12: 4th coaching call - Topics: Testing and feedback w/ industry advisors
